The following passages are an abridged compilation of the many experiences of one Achmed Al Hadid, whilst following the Red Queen, Gishona, as her scribe. Hegemony of Horrors encompasses numerous volumes, divulging in acute and excruciating detail, the full scope of Gishona’s torment of Patashan’s people. Achmed’s records of the Red Queen’s exploits were once in service to her, scribed at her command, and now serve as a warning to the new world of the horrors to come, should no one rise to stop her.
“You will be my scribe. Remain at all times, here my side. Every moment of intimacy, you will see. What I tell you to write, your hands will agree. I will protect you from all harm. You will not need for water or meat. You will never require sleep. And all else, I will satisfy for you. We begin now. Rise with me.”
–Gishona, Her Fury, Red Queen of Issacre
“I entertain myself with the idea that I do not yet understand why she chose me, for she did not make it known beyond my prior support. But I looked upon myself and understood. I had no family save distant relations, sixty years under the sun, though to look at me, it seemed forty, and as only a few knew of me, I had been developing a latent sight long ignored in my youth, now unavoidable. What I see with my eyes, my mind remembers as though always present, and the more I remember, the more I can predict and visualize what is to come. By this, I questioned the relevance of the past and future. Are they truly real or mere constructs of failed memory? For I see so many things as now happening, now being… Without a dot of resistance, I agreed to go with her. I saw that there was no reason to refuse her, that all prior events led to this, a collection of elements harmonizing to attune to this one moment… I had the sight, and she knew it. She could see it in me, in my eyes. That is what she was most proud of… being remembered.
